How we test every coffee brand we review. Four brewing methods, blind tasting, and a scoring framework built on fifteen years of industry experience.
The Editor Lab is Balance Journal's in-house testing hub, whereby our team of editors, nutritionists, and product category specialists evaluate the best in modern wellness, food and drink.
Every review goes through a hands-on testing process designed to remove brand bias and reveal real-world performance. We never accept paid placements or interference in our scoring.
Our framework adapts to category - whether that's taste, health, tech, or touch - and is built around six universal pillars.
Why we built The Editor Lab
Most review sites taste a single product and write an opinion. We wanted something more rigorous. Every brand that appears on Balance Journal goes through the same structured process in our dedicated testing studio in Shoreditch, London.
The result is a transparent, repeatable framework that lets readers compare brands on equal footing. No brand pays to appear. No brand provides editorial input. We buy every product at full retail price.
