The shift from chemical solvent processing to Swiss Water and CO2 methods has closed the gap between caffeinated and decaffeinated in ways that would have been unthinkable in 2010. Decadent Decaf was founded in 2015 by Guy, Richard, Greg, and Laura - a group of UK coffee importing and roasting veterans who were frustrated by the poor quality of decaffeinated coffee available in Britain. The first website went live in May 2014, with the company formally incorporating in 2015.
The roastery sits a mile from the sea in Littlehampton, West Sussex, where Richard and Greg (father and son) hand-roast on a Probat gas roaster. The operation is deliberately small. They roast only seven core decafs and the occasional guest coffee, which gives them an unusual depth of focus for a single category.

The dark roast option pushes further into smoky, roasted territory, and the Brazilian and Guatemalan offerings fill out the mid-range with nutty, chocolatey profiles. Across the range, the roasting is measured and controlled. Nothing is burned, nothing is under-developed.
